Welcome to Resource at Dodd
Mrs. Juarez and I would like to take this opportunity to let you know about our expectations for 4th and 5th grade resource Reading/Language Arts and Math.
As with all the teachers at Dodd we expect our students to follow the Three R’ s of a Good Student:
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready!
If necessary we will sign a student’s conduct card. We will use purple ink for all our notes so please note the color. We do not send “homework” home daily. Homework is assigned only when a student has not completed daily work in class. This will be noted in the student’s planner (in purple). Completed work folders will be sent home on Mondays, please sign the parent page and return the empty folder on Tuesday.
In Mrs. Juarez’s class students will receive a spelling list on Monday. Please help your student study every night for their test on Friday. They will also have a spelling work to help them study at home. Students will be going to the library once a week and are expected to read books on their level every night for at least 15 minutes.
In Mrs. Kragh’s class students will be working on math. Studies show that students who know their math facts are much stronger when working higher level problems. Please help your student study their math facts, addition and subtraction facts until the end of the first 6 weeks, then we will be moving on to multiplication. Multiplication is especially critical as solving fraction, measurement, and money problems also incorporate this skill.
