     Make plans now to attend the FFA “Fun Days” event on Saturday, May 19, 2012, in the Krum Middle School parking lot. The event will resemble country fairs from days of old with a cook-off, craft fair, rides, games, and much more. In addition to raising funds for the FFA, booster clubs from other organizations will also be present to gain support for groups district-wide. The initial planning phase has begun with more information to come soon! See you there!

    School Board Recognition Month Celebrated in January

    School Board Texans benefit every day from the tireless work and countless hours dedicated by a group of more than 7,300 men and women in communities across the state. Elected to serve by local constituents, these public servants receive no compensation for their efforts. These men and women are the school board members of Texas.

    January is School Board Recognition Month—an opportunity to thank these local leaders for devoting time to support public education and serve our local schools.

  • KHS STUDENT COUNCIL SELECTED FOR CHAMPIONS FOR CHILDREN AWARD
    Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County Awards First Annual Honor

    Student Council The Krum High School Student Council is known throughout the community for their good works and efforts on behalf of those in need. Just old enough to no longer be considered children themselves, the group is being recognized for their activism on behalf of the children of Krum. During a special ceremony held January 19 in Lewisville, the group was named the winner of the first Champions for Children Award, given by the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County.

    Boost in Rigor Prepares Students for New Standards

    STAAR First it was the TABS test. Then it was the TEAMS. The last two decades have tested generations of students using the TAAS and TAKS. Now, the State of Texas has introduced thenext generation of student tests called the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness or STAAR. Although the state has revealed little information about the test which it plans to use to measure student performance, teachers and students are already preparing for the test which is rumored to change the practice oftesting entirely.
