    School Board Recognition Month Celebrated in January

    Our School Board Texans benefit every day from the tireless work and countless hours dedicated by a group of more than 7,300 men and women in communities across the state. Elected to serve by local constituents, these public servants receive no compensation for their efforts. These men and women are the school board members of Texas. January is School Board Recognition Month—an opportunity to thank these local leaders for devoting time to support public education and serve our local schools.

  • STUDENT COUNCIL TOILETRY AND CANNED FOOD DRIVE SUCCESSFUL
    Over 1800 Items Collected

    Food Drive The Krum Middle School student council recently sponsored a canned food and toiletry drive from for Special Touch Ministries. Special Touch Ministries is a local organization which gives to families in need in the community. The drive was a huge success thanks to the generosity of our students and encouragement from our staff. It is estimated that Krum Middle School students and staff donated over 1800 items.   • TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ADJUST TO CHANGES AS STAAR TEST APPROACHES
    Boost in Rigor Prepares Students for New Standards

    STAAR First it was the TABS test. Then it was the TEAMS. The last two decades have tested generations of students using the TAAS and TAKS. Now, the State of Texas has introduced thenext generation of student tests called the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness or STAAR. Although the state has revealed little information about the test which it plans to use to measure student performance, teachers and students are already preparing for the test which is rumored to change the practice oftesting entirely.
