KISD Band Spreads Holiday Cheer

On Saturday, December 9th the HS Flute Ensemble performed 4 concerts, 2 at The Vintage for Assisted Living and Health Care and at the Village for Independent Living and Memory Care. On December 10th, 52 MS/HS Band students and members of the Krum Church of Christ youth groups shopped for presents for the children of the Tipton Home. 32 children received gifts selected and wrapped by the Krum teens, with funds provided by donations from the church. 8th grade Band members performed at Presbyterian Hospital for patients, staff, and visitors on December 15th. The Emergency Room was especially appreciative. One women from the E.R. came down to thank the students for playing, commenting "Your music was the only bright spot of very hard day." The Music Therapist working at the hospital spoke with the band members about the different aspects of her career, using music to help heal, including the preemie ward, to cancer treatments and physical therapy. The HS Band played Sing-A-Longs for the Dodd and Dyer students and the MS Bands also performed for their friends and family on December 19th. Each beginner band class had a separate performance during the school day, followed by the 7th and 8th grade bands that evening. Way to go KISD Band students!
