It is an honor and a privilege to begin my fifth year as superintendent here at Krum ISD. The 2017-2018 school year will be my twenty-sixth year in education and my tenth year as a superintendent. I graduated from Meadow ISD in 1987, obtained my bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University in 1991 and a master’s degree from Lubbock Christian University in 2004. My wife, Amy, is a math teacher at Krum Middle School. We have three daughters; a senior and sophomore at Angelo State, and a sophomore at Krum High School.
Krum is a unique place with a tremendous history. I look forward to what this year holds as we continue to build on the successes of our past. One element that Krum is familiar with is change. Over the last ten years, the student population has almost doubled and new facilities have been built to accommodate the growth. We have seen the successful implementation of several new programs that have grown to be an important part of our school culture. This year will begin with several changes at the campus level. I am excited about these changes and the opportunities it provides for all involved. As we continue to grow, other challenges will arise that will create more change. However, I am confident in the leadership of our school board and staff to help make the best decisions for our students and our school.
As we begin the new year, we will continue to work to make Krum ISD a place where students can reach their potential. Every decision that is made has to be based on what is best for our children. It is a time for change in education and we need to look at new and innovative ways to educate our students. I am confident that the teachers here at Krum ISD are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide an exceptional educational experience and I look forward to a tremendous school year.
