Meet Your Officers

Meet Our KISD Police Department

Chief Brad Curtis has been in law enforcement for thirty-six years. He retired from the Denton Police
Department in 2018 with thirty years of service. While with Denton Police Department he served as a
patrol officer, and a detective. He received training at both the state and federal level as federal task
force officer. He was hired by Krum ISD in 2018 to establish their District Police Department. He now
serves as the Chief of Police and Emergency Management Coordinator for the District. Chief Curtis and his wife have resided in the Krum Independent School District for twenty-five years and have two sons who graduated KHS.

Officer Vikki Chandler comes to Krum ISD Police Department after retiring from Lake Dallas Police Department with over 20 years’ experience. She served as a Patrol Officer, Investigator, Patrol Sergeant and Police Lieutenant. She holds an Advanced Peace Officer License, is a graduate from the Caruth Police Institute Advanced Leadership Series and specialized training with crimes against persons as she served as a member of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County.

Officer Teri Armstrong has been in law enforcement in different capacities since 2013. She has previously worked for Carrollton Police Department, Krum Police Department, and now currently with Krum ISD Police Department. She has been a Police Training Officer, a Defensive Tactics instructor, a Qualified Technician, and a Patrol Officer. She also taught CTE Law Enforcement classes at Jack E. Singley Academy in Irving, TX. Officer Armstrong has a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a Master’s in Public Administration, as well as her Advanced Peace Officer License.

Officer Toby Sims has nearly 18 years of law enforcement experience, serving as a Patrol
Officer, Detective, Deputy Constable, and currently as the School Resource Officer and Truancy
Officer for the Krum ISD. He holds an Advanced Peace Officer License and an Advanced
School Resource Officer certification in School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE). His passion
for supporting students is evident as he prioritizes attending nearly all extracurricular activities to
show his encouragement and commitment to the students.


In addition to his law enforcement duties, Officer Sims is a product developer and holds two
U.S. patents—one in the automotive industry and another in the school safety sector. His
commitment to community safety and student well-being is reflected in his diverse contributions
and active involvement in the school environment.
