Dr. Jason Cochran proudly serves as Superintendent of Krum Independent School District, where his vision for education is rooted in relationships, accountability, and servant leadership. Since joining Krum ISD in February 2022, Dr. Cochran has worked alongside the Board of Trustees, staff, students, and community to ensure that “It’s a GREAT day to be a Bobcat” is more than a slogan, it’s a shared commitment to excellence, growth, and belonging.

Under Dr. Cochran’s leadership, Krum ISD has continued to experience significant growth and success. The district passed a $242 million bond package that includes a new middle school, an advanced Career and Technology Education Center, an elementary wing addition, and multiple facility upgrades to support the district’s expanding enrollment and instructional needs. He has prioritized financial stability, increasing the district’s fund balance, while also implementing a 10% compensation increase for teachers and staff.

Beyond budgets and buildings, Dr. Cochran’s heart for leadership is grounded in people. He established the Superintendent’s Student Leadership Cabinet, a program designed to connect the leaders of today with the leaders of tomorrow through servant leadership and community engagement. His leadership style emphasizes visibility, transparency, and a deep belief that meaningful relationships between educators, students, and families build lasting legacies.

Before joining Krum ISD, Dr. Cochran served as Superintendent of Eastland ISD from 2014 to 2022. His tenure there was marked by significant student achievement gains, balanced budgets, and innovative programs, including a dual-credit initiative that helped 20–30% of graduating seniors earn associate degrees. He was twice named Region 14 Superintendent of the Year and received the Eastland Chamber of Commerce Prestigious Leadership Award for his service to students and the community.

Originally from the DFW area, Dr. Cochran began his career in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD where he also served as Assistant Principal at Hurst Junior High School and L. D. Bell High School. His first role as a high school principal was with Decatur ISD.  Dr. Cochran earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oklahoma City University, his Masters of Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. Cochran holds certifications in Elementary 1-8, principal certification and superintendent certification.

Dr. Cochran’s passion for learning, community, and leadership has made a lasting impact on every district he’s served. Whether he’s walking campuses, cheering at a game, or leading district-wide initiatives, his purpose remains clear; to serve others, to lead with integrity, and to ensure that every student in Krum ISD is known, valued, and prepared for a bright future.
