Krum ISD Welcomes Samuel Bonsu Jr., Ed.D., as New Principal of Krum High School

 

Krum Independent School District is proud to announce the appointment of Samuel Bonsu Jr., Ed.D., as the new principal of Krum High School. Dr. Bonsu is a dynamic and student-centered leader that brings a deep commitment to relationship-building, school culture, and educational excellence.

With more than a decade of experience in public education leadership, Dr. Bonsu has served in a variety of leadership roles at both the middle and high school levels across North Texas. Most recently, he served as principal of Burleson Collegiate High School, where he led with a focus on collaboration, character development, and student voice. Under his leadership, the school experienced exceptional growth in its Early College programs, achieved a 100 percent high school graduation rate, and maintained an “A” campus rating from the Texas Education Agency. He has a strong reputation for being a visionary leader who challenges conventional approaches and advocates relentlessly for students and teachers.

Dr. Bonsu is guided by his core values: Love, Learn, Serve, and Lead. This is a framework he plans to fully integrate into the Krum High School experience. His goal is to make his leadership discernible and appreciated by building authentic relationships and cultivating a culture where students and staff feel valued and empowered.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bonsu has led numerous student and community engagement programs that foster integrity, connection, and mentorship. He was the driving force behind Bowties & Ties, a character-building initiative for young men, and helped create the Young Wise Men Club, providing students with enrichment through college tours, service projects, and real-world mentorship opportunities. He has also played active roles on instructional, and leadership committees at both the district and state levels. His leadership extends statewide through his current role as Chair of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) Texas Study Committee, where he helps shape best practices for secondary education in Texas.

A strong advocate for student voice, Dr. Bonsu believes in creating space for all members of the school community to contribute to shared goals. He plans to internalize and promote the spirit of “Bobcat Family” as the foundation of the school’s culture and will work to establish open, positive communication with students, families, teachers, staff, community members, and district leadership.
