Krum ISD Introduces “Movement Monday” at Krum Middle School to Boost Wellness

Krum Middle School has launched a new wellness initiative called Movement Monday to help students and teachers reset, recharge, and add physical activity to the school week. Each Monday, a different grade level will take a supervised walk around the school, giving students a structured opportunity to move, socialize, and return to class refreshed.

Research and experience show that short movement breaks benefit middle schoolers by improving focus, reducing stress, increasing energy, and supporting emotional well‑being. Movement Monday walks also foster positive peer connections and provide a safe setting for students to build relationships outside the classroom.

To encourage participation, students will receive a punch on their Movement Monday punch card each time they join a walk. Completed cards enter students and their advisory teachers into a drawing for a special lunch. Teachers are encouraged to join their students on the walks to model healthy habits and enjoy some outdoor time.

KMS kicked off the program with a successful first walk featuring many 6th‑grade students and teachers. The district looks forward to seeing all grade levels take part in future walks and making Monday a day to WALK.
